Welcome to our new team members
In 2026, three researchers joined the Process Intelligence Research group: Ulderico Di Caprio as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow, Tolga Dinc as an associated PhD student from KU Leuven, and Taeyong Woo as a visiting PhD student from Kyung Hee University.
Ulderico Di Caprio joined the group in January 2026 as an MSCA Postdoctoral Fellow with the project CoAUTHOR. The project aims to make chemical and pharmaceutical processes more efficient and resilient, both through the design of new processes and the retrofitting of existing ones. It uses context-aware reinforcement learning that combines physical-chemistry information, expert knowledge and data. Ulderico obtained his PhD in Chemical Engineering at KU Leuven, where he worked on hybrid models for chemical processes with applications in CO₂ capture and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Tolga Dinc joined in May 2026 as an associated PhD student. He is enrolled at KU Leuven and works on machine learning, modeling and simulation, process intensification and sustainable technologies. He holds an MSc in Applied Computer Science from Vrije Universiteit Brussel and a BSc in Environmental Engineering from Istanbul Technical University.
Taeyong Woo joined in July 2026 as a visiting PhD student from Kyung Hee University, South Korea. He works on generative AI, reinforcement learning and multi-agent systems for the design of environmental processes, in particular wastewater treatment.
