Diversity, inclusion, and equity

In academia, and especially in STEM, women and ethnic minorities are still severely underrepresented. We actively support diversity, inclusion, and equity in our group through the following measures:

  • We foster a speak-up culture in our group.
  • We create a family-friendly workplace.
  • We discuss biases openly.
  • We mentor, motivate, and support people of all genders and backgrounds to confidently pursue their studies and goals.

Open science

We aim to make knowledge accessible to everyone. To drive and promote open science, we are members of the Open Science Community Delft and 4TU.ResearchData. We aim for open-access publications and regularly publish preprints. You can find our publications here.

We publish our software as open source, for example pyDEXPI, SFILES 2.0, ENFORCE, and reluMIP.

Examples of our open science work:

  • Faculty Open Science Award (2025). Achmad Alimin, Lukas Schulze Balhorn, and Dominik Goldstein received the Open Science Award of the Faculty of Applied Sciences at TU Delft for their work on pyDEXPI, an open-source Python implementation of the DEXPI standard for P&IDs (news).
  • NWO Open Science Fund (2021) for an open-source knowledge graph database for chemical engineering, the ChemEng KG (news).
  • 4TU FAIR Data Fund (2021) for making figures from open-access chemical engineering publications FAIR (news).
