Thesis projects (BSc and MSc)

We supervise BSc and MSc thesis projects for students of TU Delft. Our supervision capacity for MSc thesis projects is currently very limited, so we can only accept a small number of MSc students. Please contact us well in advance of your planned starting date. Topics follow our research themes:

• Generative AI for engineering diagrams: digitization, autocompletion and autocorrection of P&IDs and PFDs, Smart P&IDs (DEXPI), ChatP&ID
• AI for process safety: AI-assisted HAZOP
• Hybrid and physics-constrained machine learning: hybrid modeling, ENFORCE, physics-informed neural networks
• Optimization with embedded machine learning: deterministic global optimization, MeLOn, reluMIP, KANs
• Multi-agent and LLM systems for process design
• Graph machine learning: molecular property prediction and soft sensors
• Reinforcement learning for process synthesis

Some projects are carried out together with an industry partner. An excellent background in Python is necessary for all projects.

Visiting students and researchers

Because of our limited supervision capacity, we can currently host visiting master students only in exceptional cases. Visiting researchers are welcome to contact us with a short description of their background, research interests and funding. See also Join us.
