Artur receives a KNAW Early Career Award
Artur Schweidtmann is one of twelve researchers to receive a 2026 Early Career Award from the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW).
The KNAW Early Career Awards go to up-and-coming researchers with innovative ideas, from all academic fields. Each winner receives €15,000 to spend on their own research career, along with a work of art. This year's twelve awards cover topics from the maritime history of piracy to quantum computing, and from chemical process engineering to politeness in online political discourse.
In its announcement, the KNAW describes Artur's research as follows: "Chemical engineer Artur Schweidtmann combines machine learning with principles of physics to design chemical processes more intelligently and to make them run more efficiently and sustainably. He has been highly successful at this, with his innovative research yielding methods that engineers can apply in real-world situations, ranging from process design to operational management."
The award recognizes the work of the whole Process Intelligence Research team. The awards will be presented on 1 December 2026 at the Trippenhuis in Amsterdam.
