Max Theisen wins Best Presentation Award at the NWGD Symposium
Our PhD candidate Max Theisen won the Best Presentation Award at the symposium of the Nederlandse Werkgroep Drogen (NWGD, Dutch Working Group on Drying) for his talk on AI for multistage spray drying.
Max Theisen presented how long powder particles spend in the different stages of a multistage drying process. This residence time affects how particles dry and agglomerate, and therefore the properties of the final powder. In his approach, the dryer plant is represented as a graph that captures how the different stages are connected, and machine learning is used to learn the dynamics of the process.
The work is part of our spray drying project with Danone. Max is supervised by Artur Schweidtmann, Gabrie Meesters and Ruud van Ommen, and works closely with Helio Guedes De Brito Neto, Arend Dubbelboer and Koen van Dijke from Danone.
Congratulations, Max!
