DEXPI and industrial AI at the ARC European Industry Leadership Forum

At the ARC European Industry Leadership Forum in Sitges, Spain (4–6 May 2026), Artur and Dr. Michael Wiedau (Evonik, Chairman of DEXPI e.V.) presented how the DEXPI standard enables semantic interoperability as a foundation for industrial AI.

The forum's theme was "Achieving Resilient Operations through AI, Digitalization and Sustainability". The DEXPI session showed how standardized, vendor-independent and semantically rich engineering data make process knowledge usable for AI applications. Johan Immerzeel (Shell, DEXPI Board) also spoke, and a panel discussed AI-augmented HAZOP and process safety.

Our group's work builds directly on DEXPI: we digitize legacy engineering diagrams into DEXPI with DigiCo, process DEXPI P&IDs in Python with pyDEXPI, and use them as the basis for ChatP&ID and AI-assisted HAZOP.

Since May 2025, Artur has served as Vice Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board of the DEXPI Initiative. A summary of DEXPI's participation in the forum is in the DEXPI July 2026 update.
