pyDEXPI 1.2 released

pyDEXPI 1.2 released

Version 1.2.0 of pyDEXPI, our open-source Python package for DEXPI P&IDs, was released on PyPI on 14 April 2026.

The main changes in this release are:

  • Proteus XML: the parser now also reads drawing information, Proteus XML IDs and metadata, and a first Proteus XML exporter was added, so P&IDs can be written back to the exchange format.
  • Graphs: a refactored graph loader with three levels of abstraction (complete graph, process graph and conceptual graph). It replaces the previous loader for machine learning graphs.
  • SVG export: DEXPI diagrams and their shape catalogue can be saved as SVG files.
  • Toolkits: a new equipment toolkit, plus loading and saving of byte streams for the JSON and Proteus serializers.

pyDEXPI is used in our research on P&ID autocorrection and ChatP&ID. Upgrade with pip install --upgrade pydexpi. The full release notes are on GitHub.
