Generative AI in chemical engineering education: project outcomes
On 27 January 2026, TU Delft published the outcomes of the first two projects of its AI-Augmented Engineering Education programme. One of them, "GenAI as a design tool in chemistry and chemical engineering", was led by Artur.
The project integrated generative AI into chemistry and chemical engineering education. The team developed teaching materials, including lectures, quizzes and an interactive demonstrator for AI-assisted engineering design. The new materials were introduced in the master-level courses "Computational Practicum" and "AI in (Bio)-Chemical Engineering".
The project also contributed to guidelines for the use of generative AI tools in coursework and theses, and strengthened collaboration with the materials science and bioinformatics programmes.
